IMAT Test Registration Dates 2025
IMAT registration will start on 26 August 2025 to 09 September 2025 until 15:00. Registrations take place on Universitaly (https://www.universitaly.it/)
On the 17th of September the IMAT 2025 will take place. The anonymous results will be released on the 25th of September 2025. On the 6th of October 2025 the personal results will be released.
The rankings will officially be available on the 13th of October 2025.
IMAT Question Allocations 2025
The IMAT 2025 will consist of 60 questions to be completed in 100 minutes. The question allocations for 2025 will be as follows
- 4 questions on Reading Skills and Knowledge Acquired During Studies
- 5 questions on Logical Reasoning and Problem Solving
- 23 questions on Biology
- 15 questions on Chemistry
- 13 questions on Math and Physics

What time will IMAT registrations open?
They do not announce a specific time, but last year it was 12 in the afternoon Italian time. If your test centre is short on space, I suggest being ready in advance to make the booking
Can you take the Imat in any test centre independently of where you are from?
Yes you can take the IMAT in any test centre, the only exception is if you take it in Italy. In this case, you must take it in the same centre as your first choice university. However, outside of Italy it does not matter what centre you choose. Just make sure to pick a country that does not present visa or other travel related problems
Hey team,
I just gave my univeristy exams and would like to now give a try for IMAT this year. I have already given IMAT last year but unfortunately didnt make it. But I have all my notes prepared and started studying this week. I hope to finish biology this week and start chemistry next week, and then with revisions and practice exams the week after.
If I apply to Tor vergata university but for theri branch in Albania, will there be an option to switch locations and come to italy at a later semester? Will it have the same value as the one in Italy? I prefer Albania due to the huge number of non EU seats and relativly low cost of living compared to Italy.
I kindly request you suggestion and advice for me

The number of questions allocated to each section as listed in this article are not a prediction from us, they are part of the official ministry decree. So yes, you can be certain of these question allocations

Do I need a Italian fiscal in order to enrol at medicine university in Italy (for the case that I pass the IMAT)?
If you are Italian, yes. If you are an international student, you wont need the official fiscal code until later, which you can get once you arrive in Italy. You will be able to autogenerate a fiscal code where needed before the official one is released (Universitaly will do this for you).

You register for the IMAT on Universitaly, where you can select the test centre in Pakistan (or other locations if you prefer) as well as your university of choice (if you are non-EU you have only one choice). You can apply, but the university will determine if you are eligible
Registration fee?
The exact fee is not yet announced, but expect it to be around 130 to 150 euros. The fee can vary based on what country you take the test in, as well as the currency they charge.
Minimum how many marks are required for IMAT test 2025 to secure admission in Italy universities?
It is not possible to know the minimum scores in advance. The minimum score at a university depends on many factors such as how many students applied to that university, how well these students did, the difficulty of the exam etc.

Just one mote question: The pre registration is just for Non EU students, isn’t it? EU students just need to register through the university portal for Pavia and the other universities?
For some universities, you only need to do the pre-registration on the individual university sites if you are a non-EU students. However, some universities (such as Messina and Ancona) have this requirement even for EU students.

In regards to the syllabus, is there a specific document stating the assessable topics for the IMAT this year?

When does the cut-off appear for each university?
They should be released on the day of the rankings, but in the past some universities have been a few days late with the non-EU rankings

The number of questions assigned to each section are the same as last year, as is the syllabus.

They should be out soon, no exact date is specified however
If you are coming from a far destination, when do classes start? Won’t the semester already be in play by the time scores are released?
They generally start soon after the rankings, but definitely not before. The universities are understanding on the fact that you might not be able to make it there on day 1, so dont be too stressed if visa timings or travel prevent you from getting there on the exact start date.

Each region has it own scholarship institution which provides needs based scholarships to students (including international students). I suggest checking with the regional scholarship institution for your chosen university for more information.

What is a safe score in IMAT 2025 for a non-EU student, particularly for the University of Cagliari, considering the increased competition? Would a score of 65+ be enough, or is 70+ a better target?
There is no such thing as a general safe score for the IMAT. It really depends on the test difficulty and the level of competition. In 2024 the IMAT was far easier than usual, which increased the scores dramatically. We cannot know in advance if the IMAT 2025 will be similar to 2024, or if it will be more like the previous years.

Yes registration for the IMAT is open (it opened on the 26th). Login to Universitaly, go to the homepage and click IMAT. You will then be able to register
With an ADHD diagnosis, is there a separate application for exam accommodations? If so, is this done through universitaly? If it is done directly to universities, do you have to send a separate request to each university that you have listed in order of preference on your IMAT registration?

The consent form mentioned is generally not needed to get into the IMAT venue itself. It is often required for travel purposes when a minor is taking the IMAT outside their home country and travelling with a visa. If you are unsure about what requirements your venue has, you can contact them.
As for diplomas and transcripts, no you dont need to bring these to the venue
can we sit to the exam with pending results? in my country our exam is on august but the results will be out in around december. so is it possible??
In general you need your final qualifications ready at the time of enrolment to the degree, but I suggest contacting your university to see if they have any workarounds for your country’s qualifications.
Note: To sit the IMAT itself you do not need the qualifications as these are not asked for during test registration
I have a question about Catania University specifically, for 2026 will the non-EU seats remain at 60 or will they decrease. A best guess from the experts on the IMAT would be much appreciated.
It is likely to decrease to allow some EU seats, but we will need to wait for the official seat allocations to be released
