IMAT 2024: Important Dates, Procedures and Test Venues

The IMAT 2024 test registration date has finally been announced! 

IMAT 2024 Registration Date

Registration for the test takes place from 2 September 2024 and closes strictly at 3.00 pm Italian time on 12 September 2024. We strongly encourage students to register on the first registration day, since spaces can fill up. 

The IMAT test itself will be held on the 17th of September 2024

IMAT 2024 Test Time

The test will be held at 11:00 in the Italian test centres.

Where and how do I register for the IMAT?

Registrations are done on Universitaly, which will be open between the dates mentioned above. You will be able to apply for multiple universities. Please be aware of the following…

  • Non-EU students will only be considered for their first choice university, which will be the one they pre-enrolled for. 
  • EU students can apply to multiple universities. Make sure to order your university choices correctly!

Your preferences cannot be changed after the 12th of September!

IMAT 2024 Results Dates

The following dates are also important to take into account.

IMAT 2024 Anonymous Results

On the 26th of September 2024, the anonymous results will be published. Your name will not officially be stated, but if you remember the letters/numbers of your label code on the test paper, you will know your official score. It is thus a good idea to remember the last numbers of this label so you can know your score early. If you forget this code, don’t worry, you will get the official results soon after.

IMAT 2024 Official Results Date

On the 3rd of October 2024, you will be able to see your work, paper and score. 

IMAT 2024 Seat Allocation Date

On the 10th of October 2024, the rankings will begin for both EU and non-EU candidates. This is when non-EU candidates will be allocated their seats. EU candidates will have seat allocations every week following this date as well. 

IMAT 2024 Enrolment Acceptance

When you get your offer, you should accept it immediately! If you are an EU candidate, you can reject an offer to await an offer from a university you ranked higher in your application, if your score was not high enough for that university. Non-EU candidates are only considered for their first choice. 

A maximum deadline of 4 days for enrolment is in force, including the day on which the ranking is scrolled. Failure to enrol ASSIGNED candidates will result in their renunciation if not exercised within the 4-day deadline.

I've been trying to get into med school for two years now and I've been through A LOT of different books and websites designed to help the test takers but I have never come across anything remotely similar to IMAT Buddy!     1. Applications for a visa can depend on what country you are applying for. I would contact the embassy in your country now to see what their availabilities are. As for starting times, you should contact the universities about this.

  4. Hello, I want to do the imat exam but I am from Kenya but saw that it is not among the test centers. wanted advice on what I should do?

    1. You will need to sit the exam in a country where there is a test center. I recommend choosing a country where you can get a short term visa the quickest.

    1. As an Ecuadorian you will be considered a non-EU (assuming you have no other citizenship that can count you as an EU candidate). You will need to do the same procedures as non-EU students. As for test venues, there are none in Ecuador so you will need to take the test in another country.

  7. I might take the IMAT in a center outside of Italy, for example Dubai. Is there a specific number of slots for these centres? ,so if I register for the IMAT later than other people ,for example 10th September instead of 2nd or 3rd September, will there still be slots available or is there a chance that i find them all occupied?

  10. Hello. Today is October 4, and there are still no official results on the Universitaly website and I can’t see mine. Where can I find out and help with this?

    1. A lot of students have told me the same thing. Some of these students ended up receiving their results later than others and some are still waiting. If you still have not received the results you will need to wait a bit longer. There must be a delay somewhere with releasing the grades
