IMAT 2023 Date
New updates about the IMAT 2023 test date! According to the ministry, the current date for the IMAT 2023 has been set for the 17th of October 2023.

“In order to provide adequate information to the students concerned and to allow the Universities to proceed with the preparation of the appropriate measures related to the organization of the tests, we inform you that the admission test to the single-cycle master’s degree courses in Medicine and Surgery and in Dentistry and dental prostheses delivered in English will be held on 17 October 2023.
The date of the performance could undergo variations due to any organizational and logistical needs of the foreign offices and candidates will be promptly notified.
The procedures and contents of the admission tests and the number of places available for enrollment in the aforementioned degree courses will be defined by subsequent decrees.
Rome, 12 June 2023.”
This date is over 1 month later than expected, as all previous IMAT test dates have been in September. The date extension will likely be welcomed news for many since it gives you an extra month of study. For some, existing plans may be impacted. I know this can be stressful, but at least we now have a date and can prepare accordingly for the exam.
The announcement does mention the date could change, however, this is very unlikely. Nevertheless, given the unusual timing of this year’s exam, we should expect the unexpected. For these reasons, I suggest that you stick to your current study schedules so that in the event of a date change you will not be caught unawares.
Doesn’t Medical School Start in October?
Some of you may be confused about how this new test date will impact your first year in medical school since the year usually starts in October. This will likely just mean that medical school starts one month later this year for first-year students. Do not worry about this for now, the important thing is that you pass the IMAT!
IMAT 2023 Syllabus
The announcement has not given us any more information regarding the syllabus for this year’s exam. For now, there is no reason to think that the syllabus will change significantly, but since Cambridge will not be writing the test this year there could be some slight changes, most likely in the logical reasoning section. The number of questions and allocation of questions by section could also change. For now, do not worry about this. Keep studying based on past IMAT test formats and await future announcements.
IMAT 2023 Test Location
In past years it was possible to take the IMAT test in many places around the world, ranging from Italy to many countries in Europe, the USA, UAE, the UK and many other places. This made it very flexible for international students. This year we must, unfortunately, prepare for the likely outcome that the test centres will be held only in Italy, as Cambridge will no longer be writing the exam. For these reasons, I encourage you to start making plans to come to Italy in October. While there is of course a possibility that other test locations will be made available, it is at this point unlikely.

Is there any news about when the application process starts?
The application for the IMAT test itself usually opens in early July. We will have to wait and see for exact dates

when will registration open for IMAT 2023 as its late july and still they aren’t open.
Unfortunately the registration opening date is not announced beforehand for the IMAT, so we just need to wait for it to open

I think that is the most likely at this point, given that the IMAT is over a month later than previous years

Currently we do not know. In the past it was possible to take the test in many countries, but since Cambridge is not writing the exam this will likely not be the case this year. It is thus likely that the test will be written in Italy. It has always been possible (and even required) to take the test in the same city as your first choice university. So my prediction this year is the exam will be held in all the cities in Italy where there are English language public medical schools. This is just a prediction of course.
where and when can i take the imat in the us?
The IMAT will be on the 17th of October, but it is not at all certain that you will be able to take it in the USA this year. Soon the applications will open and we will be able to see where the test centers will be, but it is a strong possibility that it will only be able to be taken in Italy.

IMAT Registration has opened or not?
It will open on the 18th of September and close on the 29th of September. I released a new article with the important information.
On Universitaly site still it is showing me imat 2022 not 2023 for registration. I would like to ask has the registration process for IMAT 2023 opened?
will there be any changes in the quota for non-EU students at each medical school?
I listed the number of seats for each university in another article, theres been a few changes in the number of seats.
